The cottage itself is ideal for peaceful relaxation, woodland strolls and picnics, and watching the buzzards, swallows and other birds. Local attractions include the beautiful beaches of the Ceredigion Coast and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the Gwili steam railway, and numerous historic castles. The local area has a network of quiet country lanes and the Nant y Gronw forest trails a mile from the cottage which are ideal for walking, mountain biking and horse riding. There is also a network of footpaths around the historic village of Drefach-Felindre which is home to the National Woollen Museum. Brechfa Forest, a few miles to the east, is a popular destination for mountain biking, and is home to the excellent Derwen Trail, a 10km family mountain bike trail in addition to the highly praised Gorlech and Raven trails for more expert riders.

The River Teifi provides opportunities for fishing and canoeing, and salmon can sometimes be seen leaping the falls at Cenarth. Close to the estuary at Cardigan is the Teifi Marshes Wildlife Reserve. Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park provides an opportunity to see seals, dolphins and many other animals.

Further afield are the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Pembrey Country Park and the Millenium Coastal Park with its cycle path with spectacular views to the Gower. Folly Farm and the Oakwood theme park are within easy reach.
